Important Information
Permission code?
I have taken the placement test/interview. When will I receive a permission code to enroll?
Permission codes will be distributed on the first day of class, if space permitted.
I have taken AP Chinese exam and passed. Which class should I take?
If you passed AP Chinese exam with a score 3 or higher, you will be placed out of Chinese 1/2/3/4/5/6 and into Chinese 103 or more advanced classes.
I am a native Chinese speaker. Which class should I take?
If you are a native speaker of Chinese, your chance of getting into Chinese 1/2/3/4/5/6/103 is slim and you shouldn't waste your time on lower level Chinese classes. Please consider enrolling in more advanced classes such as Chinese 104/105/107/108.
What if I cannot attend the first day of class?
Failing to attend the first meeting of class will automatically result in administrative deleting from the class and allow students on the wait list (and who show up) to enroll, no exceptions. Students who have been deleted will be given priority to enroll in the same class next year.
This policy is also stated in the UCSC office of register (https://registrar.ucsc.edu/faqs/students/enrollment/index.html). If you are looking for classes to fulfill CC or TA requirements, there are plenty of other GE courses available.
